BEN AKNOUN OLYMPIC SWIMMING POOL
Location: Ben Aknoun, Alger
Client: Ministère de la Défense Nationale
Authors: Binari (architecture)
Boma (structure)
Area: 3.870 m2
Year: 2009
The project’s strategy consists on redefining the connexion between the two main platforms, being placed in an intermediate position and guarantying a harmonious insertion in a hardly built environment.
The main access is defined through the superior platform spread out as a great public space over the bath area, at the inferior level. Both platforms are re-attached by terraces from which we can enjoy a panoramic view towards the olympic swimming pool and the urban environment. It houses inside a joint of services which allows the building working in order.
The closure of the deck is a curved area constituted by laminated wood beams and a retractable system which allows the overture of the olympic swimming pool during warm months.
